How to Maintain Your Kitchen and Bathroom Countertops0

When remodeling kitchens or bathrooms, most homeowners prefer granite countertop or quartz countertop. These two types of countertops aren’t only durable but they’re also beautiful. Another great thing about these countertop types is that they don’t require much maintenance.

Here are some general points that help with the care and maintenance of your countertop:

1. Clean it daily

People from Eco Crush recommend performing daily maintenance to make sure that the countertop retains its beauty for years. You can clean it using warm water and a few drops of mild anti-bacterial detergent. When rinsing the top, make sure that you wash it with clean water. Then, dry it using a soft, clean cloth.

2. Wipe the area immediately

If you spill something on it, you must remove the stains immediately by using a soft cloth. However, you must only remove it by blotting the area. Wiping it won’t do the trick as it’ll only spread the spill.

3. Dry the area all the time

Whether you have granite or quartz countertops, you need to make sure that they’re dry all the time. This will avoid stains that can be difficult to remove later.

4. Use mild degreaser

If you need to perform heavy-duty cleaning for your countertop, you must only use mild degreaser and a stone cleaner recommended by the manufacturer of the countertop.

Do I need a sealer? This is one of the most common questions being asked by our clients. Our countertop specialists from Canadian Home Flooring may recommend certain sealants for a certain countertop. But sealers aren’t really necessary for quartz surfaces.  For granite and the Eco Crush countertops that we have on display in our showroom a stone sealer is recommended to be used every so often.  Unlike what many think though, applying a sealer is not that complicated or messy and anyone can do it in a matter of minutes.

Visit our showroom today and we’ll show you all the different countertop types and brands.  Most of them aren’t high maintenance. Our display room is located at: 1903 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC.
