Quartz countertops are becoming more and more common place in many of the new designs, especially in the West Coast. One of the most common brands, that most people recognize with is Silestone. They may have been one of the first ones to come up with this composition but they certainly have a lot of competition. Names like Caesarstone, Cambria, Fasa, Diresco, Hanstone, Q-Quarts are just a few of the other brand names that are available and we deal with at Canadian Home Flooring. In addition to these brand names there are seemingly countless other entries that don’t necessarily have a brand name but have similar composition.
So why go Quartz to begin with? Well there are many advantages to this type of product including consistency of the look from the sample piece to the final finish in your kitchen.
One of the features of Silestone that differentiates itself from many of the others is the built-in Microban Antimicrobial product protection. In addition they have a National Sanitation Foundation certification.
Microban protection inhibits the growth of microbes such as odor-causing bacteria, mold and mildew, making Silestone a surface easier to clean and keep clean.
Certifications by the national sanitation foundation and the greengaurd environmental institute mean Silestone Quartz is a safer surface for areas where food preparation takes place.
